2nd Wedding

The woman, Lynn, pictured here found out about her husband's second wedding through facebook! She looked up the woman who she had suspected was having an affair with her husband and found albums full of pictures of their wedding at Disney World (bride was dressed as Sleeping Beauty). They registered for the wedding at Target.

When she called him out on it, he grabbed their 2 yr old son, said he was going out to get some milk, and put him in the car and drove off to his new wife. Now Lynn can only see photos of her son on facebook.

I found this at work and laughed at my computer. I think the whole office probably thinks I'm crazy.

This make me wonder.. would the situation have panned out better had she not had a facebook? My theory is as follows, now I am exposed to so much information that I don't need to know, private things about people's lives that I'm not involved in. It's unnatural- but I think it's based in a natural instinct of curiosity rooted in the hypothalamus I believe that keeps us wanting to find out information that we actually don't care about. Truth be told, some of this information does change the way I perceive people, and sometimes I do find out information that hurts me or changes things drastically. There are just certain things people shouldn't know!

So I'm wondering, would it have been better if this lady didn't know, to spare hurt feelings, and keep on living her life without all this drama, or is it better that we now have the technology to reveal truths with such immediacy and candor?

It's always a double edged sword. We have so much more access to the truth, but with that we've created so much more room for ambiguity & assumptions as well.
