To The Steps! Sacre Coeur Encore

One time Carla texted "to the steps!" i had no idea what she meant by it, and assumed it was a mistake and ignored it. Apparently she and Arthur were at the Sacre Coeur drinking 2 euro beers and looking out into the city.

Today we had classes. I had my text and images class which I might change to another class, but I'm keeping it now because we get to visit museums every week. The class seemed dry. Next I had Advanced Conversation, and we had to get up and give a speech about feeling an assigned emotion. I got assigned "fatigue" which means tired. I was very "fatigue". I volunteered and was surprised that I wasn't nervous giving my talk and it was fine. I used to get serious anxiety having to speak in French, especially in front of the class.

Every day I wake up and feel that my french has gotten just a little bit better. Every day I notice this. I asked Priya and Carla if they felt like this too or noticed anything and they said no. Haha.

After class, Priya and I got some food. I got a salmon quiche. We walked to the 6 train and took it to Motte Piquet Grenelle in the 16th to meet up with Carla. Carla and Priya and I jumped on the 8 to go to the 3rd arrondissement to go to Bless- this amazing concept store. Then we found this Art-H store, which was this modern, minimalist boutique had delicate hand made clothing with lace and fur, mostly. Conceptual pieces, maybe empire waist dresses with fur as the skirt.. high waisted, and high cut leather shorts with beads tucked away as the inseam.. pretty pretty stuff. too bad it was all about 800 euros.

we found a bead wholesale store, then we stopped for some afternoon drinks and I had a soup. I haven't been feeling well after that rager we had and the bout of insomnia that struck me last night. Afterwards we took a train back to my place to drop off my computer and to get tickets to yeasayer. Carla invited me to go to Florence with her.

Then we took the metro for just a few stops to Montmartre. We walked up 110 steps from the subway because everyone was waiting for the elevator and I didn't feel like waiting. We took a little tram up the hill to get to the Sacre Coeur. The Sacre Coeur rendered me.. speechless. It reminded me of the Getty but better. honestly, looking out at the city against a pale/gray/pastel blue horizon, the buildings were milky white and the moon was full and beaming from the sky, i'd never seen anything like it. i wouldn't hesitate to say that i didn't know what beauty was until i came to paris.

We walked around Montmartre, which gave off the vibe of hollywood blvd because it was super touristy and it definitely exploited french stereotypes, selling berets everywhere, with people painting portraits wearing striped shirts and berets on the streets. though, even hollywood blvd can be made classy as exhibited by the french. we got crepes and walked back to the steps of the sacre coeur and sat. Lots of men walked by trying to sell us beer but I can't drink for the week, I'm done officially. I have no electrolytes left to spare.

We had an interesting discussion. I'm able to delve very deep with Priya and Carla. They appreciate my insights and offer me their perspectives too. It's amazing, I haven't had this in a long time.

We saw a guy who came out and started twirling fire and fireworks around.

Will and Andy came and met us. We hung out for a bit, then when it was 10:30 or so we walked to the train and went our separate ways.

Yesterday this guy that I've only met once in freshman year from NYU who started facebook messaging me and chatting me and sending me texts because he was in Paris sent me 15 texts trying to get me to hang out with him, i didn't respond all day, until I got pissed off and told him to chill out and back off. Why do people think that is ok! Clearly I am NOT interested.
